Well, dear readers, the old batteries definitely need recharging so I’ve decided to take spot of annual leave during which I’ll be away from the blog. Accordingly, in the words of the old BBC continuity announcers, there will now follow a short intermission..

Back in a week. Toodle-pip!

PS. The suitably restful and very typical bit of 1950s  “light” music accompanying this is called Pastoral Montage, and it was written by South African born composer Gideon Fagan.

Enjoy your vacation! We’ll leave the latch-string out for you.

I left Holland some 62 years ago and windmills are a hobby of mine, but I couldn’t identify this one. Do you have any information about it at all?

The film was shot at Packenham, near Bury St Edmunds, sometime around 1950. English windmills differ from those in the Netherlands chiefly though the extra fantail behind the main sweep. I learned a bit about windmills as a physicist living in Nottingham!

  2. Dear Peter,

Could you kindly read my model on galaxies (astro-ph/0510535, astro-ph/0510536)
and my model on the Universe (astro-ph/0605213)
and my model on quantum gravity (astro-ph/0604084)
and present your comments on them?

    Sincerely yours,
    Jin He

I’m happy to reply to comments, via my Blackberry, while I’m holiday but the arXiv is most definitely out of bounds for the duration. Sorry!
