I’m sure you already know this, but in order for Cook to retire with a test batting average of 100, he’ll need to score 15,048 runs at the Oval AND carry his bat.

They say that form is temporary and class is permanent, but his recent dropping of many clip catches suggests that his recent low scores were due to declining reflexes and that he was wise to retire. I was never a great fan of his captaincy but thank you, Alistair Cook, for all those Test runs.
