Lines composed upon Hearing News of the Retirement of Mr Alastair Cook from International Cricket

So.
Farewell then,
Alastair
Cook.

I hear that
You are going
To retire from
Test Match
Cricket.

Does that mean
You will go
Back
To doing
Letter from
America?

  1. I’m sure you already know this, but in order for Cook to retire with a test batting average of 100, he’ll need to score 15,048 runs at the Oval AND carry his bat.

  2. Anton Garrett Says:

They say that form is temporary and class is permanent, but his recent dropping of many clip catches suggests that his recent low scores were due to declining reflexes and that he was wise to retire. I was never a great fan of his captaincy but thank you, Alistair Cook, for all those Test runs.
