If you’re trying to avoid the onset of boredom during this lockdown, why not take the opportunity to amuse yourself and entertain your neighbours by choosing an interesting new name for your WiFi connection?

  1. An erstwhile SSID of mine was TV_Detector_Van

The sad thing is that many people actually believe that COVID-19 has something to do with the 5G networks. 😦

    • Anton Garrett Says:

I suspect that the false information was planted by people who don’t want Huawei to have anything to do with the UK’s implementation of 5G.

      • Phillip Helbig Says:

Perhaps in some cases, but claims like this are typical of the tinfoil-hat crowd. They also throw in the Illuminati, anti-vaccination sentiment, Jewish conspiracies to rule the world, Bill Gates, and so on.

      • Anton Garrett Says:

I think the funniest thing I have seen on TV was part of an episode of Jon Ronson’s classic cult series “Secret Rulers of the Universe” in which a bunch of angry Jews were berating David Icke for claiming that giant disguised lizards were running the world, saying that this was obviously code for Jews, and Icke was insisting that he really did mean lizards.

      • Phillip Helbig Says:

I think that Icke really believes that they are lizards—-more precisely, shape-shifting extraterrestrials who appear to be human but in their default form are lizard-like.

      • Anton Garrett Says:

Yes, I think he is sincere too, which is what made the episode all the more interesting. The idea has obvious echoes of Genesis 3.

    • Anton Garrett Says:

People can’t catch viruses via these masts, but computers can…

  3. Hmmmm…. that one could be unfortunate if your neighbours were nutters and consipiracy freaks!

Fortunately, mine are all geeks like us, so the surrounding networks sport names like Marvin the Paranoid Android, Vodatown, dontyou tryit and Nuclearfamily (bet they work at Aldermaston!). My fave is Apollo 13. Ours is Tracey Island on hubbys insistence.
